What Is Your Identity?
You are the Chief Visionary Officer of your life. It is only you who should be choosing the life you want to live. And to live a certain life, you need to become a certain person.
The question is, have you thought about who you want to become though? Do you have a vision of your future self?
The key point here is that what ever it is that you want to be, you need to believe that you already are that person. Even if the idea of that future self feels like a lie today, you still need to believe that you are that person. And you need to put it on a piece of paper and look at it, repeat it to yourself everyday to reinforce that belief.
Why do this?
Because our inner beliefs play a critical role in how we manifest ourselves. To manifest greatness, you need to believe you’re great!
It is our inner beliefs, ideas and assumptions that translate to actual behavior. How we interact with ourselves and the outside world are all a direct consequence of these underlying beliefs. Without them being there, your actions are hollow.
It is like someone posturing as a leader when they truly don't believe that the buck stops with them.
Or an advocate for diversity and inclusion when deep down they are judgmental of people's backgrounds, appearances and accents.
Or a society pleading for democracy when it’s collective conscience desires for a messiah to turn their fate around.
Your identity is important. And you need to be careful with what you identify yourself with. Growth in life demands continuous evolution of identity. We need to be prepared to unlearn old beliefs and learn new ones.
We are only half way into January and this is a great time to think about this. Think about all those limiting beliefs that are holding you back and crush them moving forward with a new you!
