Why Losing is the Best Lesson You’ll Ever Get
Being a cricket enthusiast, I'm obviously disappointed by Pakistan's loss to England in the world cup final but as they say, every loss brings it's own opportunities for reflection, here are few key take aways from the game that we can apply to our lives.
👉 A cricket team not knowing how much score to put on batting first is exactly how we live our lives. Life gives us a chance to put a total on the score board. We often screw it up though, at times by trying too hard and others, by just not trying hard enough.
👉 You need awareness, both self and situational. Self, to know your game. Situational, to know your playing field. You merge the two to adapt. And adaptability is the key to maximizing your potential.
👉 It's not your loss but how you lose that indicates your character. Pakistan team, despite scoring below par, showed immense character and strength the way they fought to keep the game hanging in balance till the last minute.
👉 You need a clear vision to become world beaters. England were truly the deserved world champions. They've transformed their cricket from, quite frankly, dull to exciting just over the last ten years. How did they do that? They had a vision to only endorse to and play an aggressive brand of cricket in the shorter version of the game.
👉 Vision without strategy means nothing. And specialization has been their key strategy. They've strictly specialized talent between longer versus shorter version of the game. And that's helped them carve out a team that consistently delivers a brand of cricket in line with their vision. This in itself is an amazing transformation.
I'm sure we can all learn a thing or two from sports. So congratulations to England, you were the well deserved champions. And for Pakistan, we can hold our head high as no one gave us a chance couple of weeks back and here we are, the proud runner up.👏
